Peekaboo Barn has been downloaded more than 400,000 times. It has been a top 10 educational game on the iTunes store nearly every day since its launch, and has been featured by Apple often. The app won the Best Toddler App Ever award for 2009 (MacWorld Expo) and is recommended by the New York Times, MSNBC, USA Today, and Wired.
I must say I can see why this app is so loved by all! it's the simplest app I have downloaded for my 15 months old baby boy so far but also one of the best! All your little one needs to do is tap the screen anywhere and the little barn's doors open revealing a new animal. Extremely colourful and very entertaining. It;s alos great that they made a free version to try it out; so you can see if your little one shows interest. Then download the whole app with many more animals in the barns. I also love the way it goes to night time in the full version, teaching your baby about morning and night.
Work with your child to learn the names of animals--in English or Spanish--and hear the sounds they make! Younger children will love opening the barn doors to find a new animal animation, as they learn about cause and effect and become familiar with animal names and sounds. Older children will enjoy guessing animals by sound, then seeing the animal names, which helps develop early literacy skills. And everyone will adore the illustrations by Divya Srinivasan, whose work is regularly featured in the New Yorker.
They also created Peekaboo Forest and Peekaboo Wild but my little one got a bit bored with them. Also when he touches the screen it makes it change before the voice finishes to says the name of the animal; whereas with Peekaboo Barn, the name is heard then the screen changes if it is touched.
